dussehra

Hey its been a long time since i wrote the last post in this blog....Its not that nothing interesting happened in my life but was too lazy to write it....

Walking down the memory lanes the first thing that comes to my mind of recent times is the small trip to a waterfall just 7-8 km's away from home with 2 of my friends....it was a perfect weather for outing, so took off with my friends on my sisters car for a small trip uphill just for a drive and nothing else....being persuaded to go further up, we reached a beautiful waterfall which was brimming with water thanks to loads of rain that took place just few days back of the incident....it is surely one of those activities you just imagine to do in college life as school kid....

The elections of PU took place in September, but i like to stay away from all this politics and stuff....loads of canvassing took place with people from various parties coming to our class rooms to tell us about their past achievements ,but after a while it became boring and irksome...well a funny incident took place just the day before the elections...i was waiting for a friend of mine near a tent of some party...getting bored, i took out my camera and started snapping the hoardings and party campaigns...while the camera was still in my hand a group of people came to me  following conversation took place-

them -"excuse me, from which newspaper are you ?"

me-"what?"

them-"from which paper are you?"

me-"arre am a first year student."

them-"OK....actually our parents dont know that we are campaigning ,so we dont want them to see us in newspapers.".....LOL

the pic i took

Finally came Dussehra....its one of the festivals i used to impatiently wait for in the school days cause we used to get a long session of holidays for it(but with loads of holiday homework which i still think is nothing but trash.). Anyhow we still got holidays this time also but that too just for 2 meager days after which we had a sessional...well after a long time, i guess after 4  years, went to attend the much hyped dussehra mela and noticed how different i had it pictured in my mind.....basically i was accustomed to see  loads of known faces earlier, greeting everyone with vigour and happiness and getting the same comment year and year again-"kitna bada ho gaya hai....i have known you since you were this much! "....and all those games that we used too play like throwing the ball at bottles, and card games(which i guess were still there but didnt get a chance to see due to the lack of space in front of the stalls), we specially used to get pocket money just to spend on this kind of stuff....but all was gone now....with thousands of unknown faces and no one to recognize you, i came back home with just few pics of it in my cellphone instead of the goodies like gada we used to have earlier.....

life in an auto.....

With the first sessionals finished am free again(well when was i busy?)....well this week was surely a long one..at least for me....well am considering only mon-thurs as weekdays here and not Friday ,because of the mass bunk on Friday....well ,so what makes it a weekend?...am at home, completely free again, writing a blog at Thursday midnight...that's wat i do on Friday normally...hence justified.....

Well starting this post(the actual content and not bakwas) from a friends comment-"dude wait till Thursday(last week's) and you will see a landmark in uiet"...okay to make it a lil understandable, he meant abt his Hyundai accent(which he transformed into a damaged black car due to no of lil accidents he had) ...me thinking suspiciously-()()( the only way he can make a landmark of that car is by cementing it on a platform in the uiet parking)..["()()(" this represents the bubble of my thoughts]....Thursday came and went....no landmark or an Egyptian pyramid seen in uiet parking.....then finally came sunday....i was done preparing for the sessionals due on monday and was just starting to access the internet when heard some voices coming from outside(my relatives 9 sec house where am staying alone till they are home from abroad) at 11:30 in the night...well there he was standing with a shining yellow cedia...since i love photography nothing stopped me from having a photo session at midnight....well don't know abt the landmark...but the yellow colour does stands out from the rest of cars parked in uiet....

Words cant explain how the car looks but pictures can

My paper went good the next morning(as if you care!)......

The best part abt the week occured on wednesday...my last sessional....i madly wanted to see wall.e and wasn't sure whether it will survive another week in india considering the poor business it is making in India(even after being rated as one of the best movies ever...)....well the only show that suited me started at 2:45 at pvr....and my paper started at 1:30......it was a 1.5 hour test which almost everyone finished in 1...leaving me and a friend only 15 till the show started.....with stakes high, and pulse racing...we leapt for the theatre(roughly 10 km's and loads of red lights away)...reaching there just 5 mins late ...()()(now nothing can stop me from watching the movie).....well the long waiting at the ticket counter for rock on's 3:00 clock show could......determined to watch the movie, stood in line for 10 min and finally got the tickets....but man! the theatre got hell of a security.....going through dozens of security check finally made it to the audi missing just the beginning's 15 min( which i later saw on a poor quality video on a friends laptop).

The movie was worth every effort i made for it......

Now coming to the title life in an auto...well this is what i did on thursday...my bikes first service was due since a long time so decided to have it done on thursday....after leaving my bike at the service centre i started towards the college....changing 3 different auto rickshaws(as none agreed to go there directly,it being quite far away from there) i finally reached college just on time for the lecture, only to see a couple of friends telling all the first year mechanical students( abt 5-6 present)about mass bunk.....

having enough of auto rides and enough fat & time to kill, walked all the way to sec 9....but the auto ride wasn't finished yet.....the service centre guys called me after the bike was serviced....took of to services centre on an auto....on the way just few hundred metres from the destination, realised that i forgot the service slip at home....again hiring an auto went home took the slip and travelled to the service centre, again in an auto....but the story doesn't end here even...took my bike home to sec 9 ,again hired an auto to reach manimajra for the bus home...making the total count of auto ride to 7......

well now its up to you to decide whether the title is apt or not!

rain rain go away...or should it?

Well its been raining pretty bad these days and the worst part being the water clogged roads due to it....Chandigarh, which is considered to be the first planned city of the free india is no different...i have been twice in knee deep water in chandigarh and both the times, the experience has been awesome...the first time, i was supposed to go home and it started raining cats and dogs on my way to the bus terminal , but it never stopped me and my friend from enjoying it...many scooters and cars were left stranded on the road creating a feeling like being surrounded by car shaped floating boats. So we took full advantage of it and started posing on the stranded scooters and slapping & kicking the water to the moving cars(though that's other thing that the water they threw at us was far more). The pic is lil unclear due to rain on the lens but still
you can see the floating scooter..

Well this was just the first incident...latter being far more funnier and enjoyable than the previous one....

well it appears that the rain can shower away all the maturity in us...well this was explicitly displayed in the college.....with guys and girls walking in the raining, few of them splashing it and few guys exhibiting swanky cars in the premises and few of them displaying pda(public display of affection) by strolling while holding hands, verbally slapping the us,singles...[;)]....but hey! who said singles cant have fun, specially when one has sheer power under the ummmm...seat?(wats the hood for bikes?)...well all said and done, me and my friend went for a gedi on my bike to pu and the so called cool hangout places....with the rain hitting hard on the face ,barely keeping our eyes open, we kept going at moderate speed splashing the water all over the place, shivering due to the wet clothes and wind hitting us...even after the rain was over the fun continued....with us feasting upon hot grilled sandwitches in stuce(student centre ,PU), it was a heavenly feeling.....

Well finally i visited lake with another friend at night(about 9:30)....well sorry for expressing it again and again in my posts but lake is simply beautiful ...and it looks far more beautiful under the moon lit sky, with the ut administration recently adding neon lights to the watch tower at the lake...well i was not completely over, fretting for not having a digi cam with me but something caught my eye...there were about 6 stray pups roaming at the lake.....well they were really adorable , the feeling you get cuddling all of them at the is something that i cant explain in words, and you have to visit the lake and pat them to feel it !

i know the image quality is bad ,but cant help it as the lighting conditions was really bad and i just had a old camera phone with me....

a full day masti....

Well you must be pretty annoyed with the speed this blog is being updated but cant help it, lately so much is happening in my life that i ought to write about it...

The post as usual starts from my college....
The place really is an amzing....
Well i was taking a pic of my three
friends and it ended up with three rows.....
(notice a raised hand in the centre).

Well the rest of the lectures were no different..we just sat there for our attendance and thats it, we were free!

Completely free we visited DAV 10 where the auditions for aaghaaz(its a dramatics club)were taking place...it was like the auditions for roadies and laughter chalange going at the same place....with loads of drama ranging from devdas to mimicry of different actors ,it was simply entertaining(well am trying really hard not to use the word amazing in every other line)...well i am starting to get the feeling that every college rocks...

Well this was just the begining....If you have ever been to PU...one place that you would never want to miss is stu-ce(student centre)...well this is one place that is always filled with food stalls and loads of people buzzing around it with the prices hitting rock bottom....this is where i had a hearty lunch while watching the crowd come and go....

Well after that i was supposed to go to sec 9 to stay
overnight but it was only 3 and the weather
was perfect ,so whats better than the sukhna lake...
Using saved maps on my itouch, me and
my friend walked all the way,
taking wrong turns a few times and
almost exhausted we finally reached there.
But the view and the vastness that greeted
us was exhilarating...

Just as we were about to leave the ducks started swimming in the water and greeting the visitors as if trained and paid by the chandigarh tourism(i know i must be sounding like a tourist visiting the place for the first time ,but dont know something was different).
Almost every one had there camera phones out, come on, some guys still use it to capture ducks and not the chicks ;-)....

well reaching back sec 9 it was still 6 and we still had loads of time till dinner...well again whats better hang out place than sector 17...we again preffered to walk this time...after sitting and wandering at the place ,buying some duplicate novels from the road side vendors....decided to have our dinner at subway, but wait where is it?i remember it being near the tunnel(pun unintended...it actually is near the tunnel...)But where is that tunnel?....After judging my poor navigating skills and loads of curses from my friend(i should have a gps system with me but have to do away with my stored maps on itouch ), we finally used the primitive way...NO NOT THE STARS!..we asked the fellow teenagers roaming at the place...after carefully examining the people who might know where it is, we stopped two guys and asked them where subway is..there answer"subway se kidhar jaana hai aapko"..WHAT! "No the fastfood chain dude!"...well i am not good at even judging people!...later asked a girl who also happend to be buying a novel from the roadside vendor and the following conversation took place-
girl-"its near the hot millions i guess...do you know where the hot millions is?"
my frnd pointing to the one just behind us-"yes"
me"not this one stupid...acha hua pinjore walla nahi kaha."
me-"isnt it near that bridge, near the baskin robbins?"
girl(looking not to sure)-"yes"
me-"thank you"
well we finally did find the tunnel and the subway too but not the hot millions it was supposed to be near to...
anyway, after reaching the place we had a look at the menu...they had special discount on selected dishes according to differnt days in the week...well they had aloo patty that day and the prices other wise to be frank were a little high for two teenagers...(we could have 2 crispy chicken at kfc for the same price afterall).....well actually thats what we had...there is some unsaid understanding among all the broke teenagers, so we got up and started towards kfc(we werent that broke that we couldnt afford an auto...but still it was an all walking day i guess ,so we again walked all over to kfc and feasted upon the glorious dinner....
THE END...

Starting from a comment my fme(fundamental mechanical engineering) professor made"you have to make perfect screws or you will get screwed"...all right am exaggerating it...he said "or you will get stressed"(come on wat do u expect from a professor).OK...Got admission in uiet(university institute of engineering and technology) after the second counselling and the college is rocking till now, don't know abt the future....Well my admission is itself a big task of its own...In my first counselling i got electronics in ccet sec 26.the college is good, the infrastructure is good, the classes etc,but it lacks the most hyped college atmosphere..

I mean no guys loitering the corridor in mid classes,no masti, etc etc...and most of all the ragging...Few 2nd yearites came to classroom for intro and all...and i end up singing eh shivani(from movie khoobsurat) and that too because asked by a 2nd yearite cause they had a girl with the same name..ha ha(sarcasm)... a typical ccet classroom..well this ain't my classroom...took the pic frm net...mine just had 8-10girls lol..

Well than came the second counselling and i got uiet mech with integrated mech(so i will be spending five years in chandigarh now)..loads of controversies on what degree we will get,but still its feels good to know that you will come out as a be.mba...Now as for uiet....well its amazing...actually am unsure whether the mech branch is cool or the coll..anyways...Was already prepared by the experienced ones that mech is one stream where you wont have girls and will be considered as lucha lafanga sorts....well its nice experiencing it...with most of the guys gazing out of the door half the time(evn professors are accustomed to it),and corridor filled with mechanchis half the time...its nice...well as for ragging ,well it aint a ccet...well nothing happened to me but 11 students have been rusticated for it...Our college doesn't have a canteen yet but a massive one is opening within a week, well another place for us to hang out....stay tuned for more updates...

From XCD to Karizma.....

Well this post is dedicated to my new bike Hero Honda Karizma which has its own share of stories...2 start with the buy...

After much dicussions and talks on the safety of a 2 wheeler, i managed his consent on it(with lots of strings attached though.).

initially my ride started from Apache(its a 160 cc bike from tvs stable with amazing performance and great handling)...Well thats from where my ride started, but not parent's...

Great advertisements are being made these day, as its obvious cause u get to see more of ads than the serial or sitcom itself..anyway one of them being the Bajaj's 125cc ad...its a real catchy ad with a person flaunting his 125cc bike with a lower price tag in front of a 100 cc guy...well the ad is good but bike isnt....

well as i said the ad is catchy so definitely became a good buy for my parents cause it claimed 109 kmpl ....All said and done i was still adamant on Apache...

We were supposed to go to the market the next day just for a casual try on both of them...Was instructed to go with an open heart considering the sky high prices of petrol these days...

Well 1st shop bajaj....its closed HOORAY......2nd shop tvs...its closed too...OH OH....

well fortunately the Hero Honda showroom was open....they have 3 bikes in the performance section with 2 being 150cc(hunk and cbz) and the 3rd being Karizma 223cc...

well as u already know from the tittle which bike i got, still continuing further...

well you know when you want something you tend to degrade the product that you dont want 2 make yours look better....well that wat i did.....after much cajoling and flattery papa agreed for karizma and he asked me "Want to book it or want to try apache"...i saw in disbelief it was like a dream come true and was like ,why are you even asking!....

well here i am with my new Karizma with loads of power under its uhh hood?...it goes 0-60 in abt 3.8 sec (reminding me of tokyo drift"Man this guy can surely read the manual!")...well actually the sheer pleasure that you get while driving can not be explained in words....you have to drive it to feel it......

my bike....

jailbreak itouch 1.1.4

Well gone are the days when people were able to jailbreak their iphones after hours of hard work....
Well today jailbreaking an ipod or iphone is just a few clicks away....
to start with you need to have:-
ziphone(which is easily available at google...i used ver-3.0 )
windows netframework 2.0(to run ziphone)
and an itouch(firmware 1.1.4).....

method
Open itunes
Restore itouch(do not sync)
deselect 'open itunes whenever i conncet ipod'
close itunes
run ziphonegui.exe
click on 'jail break'
some dos like screen will open in ur touch's screen for few seconds..
and tada you have a jailbreaked itouch...
ENJOY

Touched by the iTouch

Well as you can guess from the title this post is dedicated to the mighty ipod touch from the apple corp.
Since i have finished going through the mental trauma of the much hyped engineering entrance examinations, am completely free now.So got a chance to lay my hands on the ipod touch(8gb)...
Well buying it was a real pain in the a**.

To start with, I was supposed to get the touch on 4Th June...asked a friend to bring it from
Dubai since the prices there are less than India..Well so started the journey of my imaginations
and day dreams as it was my first pmp(portable media player)...

4th june-

DAMN....
He was unable to bring it.....

6th june-
After convincing my father what an amazing thing itouch was(It really is check the apple site for that) and getting his approval to buy it from India, I ordered one from Chandigarh. The device is available at planet M and music world but the prices are terribly overpriced(17k)...
After some search found a shop which was willing to sell me itouch for 15.5k which is quite
decent considering the official price of the device being 300$..
I ordered the device...but wait they don't have it in stock...DAMN.....
i was supposed to get the device on 9th...

9th june-
DAMN....(Well if you might be thinking about the extensive use of 'damn',trying to create the effect Chris Tucker made in rush hour series with the unforgettable "damn lee".)
Called the store and they told me that i would get it on 13th....What the heck....
cancelled the order .
Thankfully my aunt was visiting Dubai the same week(Don't know why suddenly every one's going to Dubai...).

10th june-
YEAH....

My aunt bought the itouch (with the price tag of 13000) ....Now no one can stop me from getting the itouch...

14june-
YEAH

The touch is finally here ......
I opened the box just like a small kid, exploring the Pandora box.
there it lie the .8cm thick itouch with a massive 3.5inch LCD and shining aluminium back in its full glory....

WELL I GUESS ITS TRUE THAT BEST THINGS ARE OFTEN HARDEST TO REACH...

Punjab

Am starting this post with a incident that happened to me in FR...
(Caution this post contains spoiler about jannat)I was supposed to meet a friend of mine at mc donalds after he finished watching jannat...i called him up just to know how much time was left before the movie finished....
Having no idea wat the movie was all abt, just to have fun ,I casually told him that Emran Hashmi would die in the end(You know how it feels when other person is expecting something to happen and then it doesn't...)..
Well after the movie finished we met and he told me that half the crowd(don't know whether he was exaggerating or not)was waiting to get their hands on me.....
wait! what happened ?
well it came out that he did died in the end of the movie and my comment travelled quite a lot in the theatre..........

Lately I went on a trip to ludhiana and Bhatinda(ya the same place people just refer in movies to create a comedy scene).
The climate being on a bit cloudy side and the roads being really good it was a pleasure to visit both the places....
check out the roads

Ludhiana

well don't know how many of you have visited the place ,but lately it has become quite good with loads of mall already opened(4 to be precise) and few under construction.
rest the place is little congested being a highly populated and old city....

As for bhatinda well this place is really old and not an ideal place a guy would like to visit without any reason.....
There are no malls in the place though few are under construction...
The best hangout place is pizzano which itself is a much degraded version of ovenfresh..
From the time i remember i have never seen the city fully constructed ie you will always find
a road plundered up to lay some pipe under or things like that..
One of the things that used to attract me earlier was the easy availability of the "movies for rent"...but after me getting an unlimited Internet plan even that has become a passe..
well the best things abt the old cities is that you get to eat the food to its full glory..
The best being the jalebes....they are simply unadulterated and amazing....

On our way back home we visited a temple on my mothers wish....
placed in patiala the kali mata mandir is a huge temple with loads of people visiting it everyday...
Well me not much of a religious person found many things humorous...
First one being ,,well all you must have seen an ipl match ...remember the hoardings or advertisement  on ground and boards...
well the same was with the temple...

the pillars supporting the roof had name of the people who donated money, but the best ones being:-
1:)
abc,
veterinary doctor,
123 patiala....
2:)
the main place had a split ac in it...
well not much of a big deal...but the best part is that even that had a big hoarding below it :donated by so and so...
Actually these thing are not funny but pathetic...

On our way back the view was really good....
there were lots of paddy field in the way
ie sown rice seeds left under lots of water.....
well a bus went of the track...

overall it was a nice vacation..........

Iron Man

Saw iron man today..Since the rip isn't out on torrents ,so decided to watch it at fun republic.......Well the experience was amazing ....I highly recommend to watch it in theatres with good sound quality only.........Stunning movie..... The movie got loads of action, comedy blah blah well you must have heard it all already...... This movie made to the imdb top 250 with rating of 8.3/10 (42,778 votes) ,its at 135 position..... Well the most amazing thing is tat it became the second most searched item on torrents only to be left behind by the mighty aXXo....One guy whom every torrent downloader knows....... Well after the movie, since the weather was really good so decided to go for a wild ride to the dt cinemas which opened recently in IT park Chandigarh...The road is simply amazing and a dream to drive on......I RECOMMEND YOU TO GO THERE AND BURN SOME ASPHALT.....

As for the mall, its good ....There is  this really big and huge(i mean it) building of infosys in front of it which makes it look really small...Only few shops have opened right now, which includes mostly the clothing ones........
Its good to give it a visit once but i will prefer to wait till other shops open....

For you, a thousand times over

Recently read a book by Khaled hossseini "The kite runner", the author was also acclaimed for his book "A thousand splendid suns" in 2007 ....Anyhow as i finished the book, my friend told me they even had a movie on it....as i really liked the book , downloading and watching the movie was inevitable specially after my entrance exams have finished....
The book is excellently written with each thought and dialogue expressed with great precision....
its about a young boy living and growing up in Kabul,Afghanistan with a friend cum servant who has been with him from his birth , but certain incidences change their lives and the way they look at it, and one of them leave as the Russians attack the place .....Mostly fiction but few facts are included.....
As for the movie

The music was really good, giving it an Afghani touch to it....
Most of the dialogues are in Farsi(subtitles provided).....
But wait the movie is not in coordination with the book......the scenes are not timed well....
When you read the book you can almost feel the character, read his thoughts(literally, as they are written by the writer. ..and in balloons in comics..duh)...but in the movie the expressions are a total led down...
though the movie got a whooping 7.9(8,637 votes) on imdb , but still felt something was missing...
i guess tats the price you have to pay for making a 320 pages book into a 2 hour movie....
Again, the same kind of scenario is seen in Harry Potter as the pages keep on increasing..
but the good thing is tat after the 5 th movie "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" ,
the directors have decided to make the 6th one in 2 parts with the 2nd part being released after a span of abt 2 months after the first.....
guess this time they wont be deleting almost every other details.......
